MINGGU PRAPASKAH IV : MINGGU LAETARE
Laetare Jerusalem, Bersukacitalah bersama-sama Yerusalem, dan bersorak-soraklah karenanya, hai semua orang yang mencintainya! Bergiranglah bersama-sama dia segirang-girangnya, hai semua orang yang berkabung karenanya. (Yes 66:10) Aku bersukacita ketika dikatakan orang kepadaku: Marilah kita pergi ke rumah Tuhan!
Penggalan di atas merupakan Introitus atau Antifon Pembukaan yang lazimnya dinyanyikan atau diucapkan pada Misa Minggu Prapaskah IV, hari Minggu yang disebut juga Minggu Laetare.
Pada masa Adven ada hari yang sama dimana warna liturgi Rose juga digunakan, yaitu Minggu Adven III yang dikenal dengan nama Minggu Gaudete. Sekali lagi nama hari ini diambil dari Proprium Introit Misa hari ini: Gaudete in Domine semper (Bersukacitalah dalam Tuhan senantiasa). Introit ini diambil dari Filipi 4:4,5 dengan ayat dari Mazmur 84.
Apa maksudnya "Minggu Laetare"?
Dalam Minggu Laetare ini, kita bersukacita karena sudah separuh jalan menjalani masa puasa dan pantang (Masa Prapaskah). Pada hari Minggu ini, imam boleh mengenakan kasula berwarna merah muda (rose) dan sekeliling altar boleh dihiasi dengan bunga berwarna cerah, juga iringan musik yang sedikit lebih meriah diperbolehkan pada hari ini.
Sambil bersukacita atas Masa Prapaskah yang sudah setengah jalan, ada baiknya kita merenungkan pula sejauh mana kita sudah bertobat? Tuhan senantiasa menunggu kita dengan sabar. Selamat hari Minggu Laetare!

Laetare Sunday is the popular name for the Fourth Sunday in Lent. Laetare means "Rejoice" in Latin, and the Introit (entrance antiphon) in both the Traditional Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo is Isaiah 66:10-11, which begins "Laetare, Jerusalem" ("Rejoice, O Jerusalem").
Because the midpoint of Lent is the Thursday of the third week of Lent, Laetare Sunday has traditionally been viewed as a day of celebration, on which the austerity of Lent is briefly lessened.
The passage from Isaiah continues, "rejoice with joy, you that have been in sorrow," and on Laetare Sunday, the purple vestments and altar cloths of Lent are set aside, and rose ones are used instead. Flowers, which are normally forbidden during Lent, may be placed on the altar. Traditionally, the organ was never played during Lent, except on Laetare Sunday.
Laetare Sunday is also known as Rose Sunday or Refreshment Sunday, and it has a counterpart in Advent: Gaudete Sunday, the Third Sunday of Advent, when purple vestments are exchanged for rose ones. The point of both days is to provide us encouragement as we progress toward the end of each respective penitential season.

Warna merah muda yang artinya adalah sukacita dan kebahagiaan ( joy, happiness, rejoice) memang hanya dipakai pada hari Minggu Adven ke-3/ Gaudete Sunday (atau ke-4/ Laurete Sunday) yang maksudnya mengingatkan bahwa Natal / Paskah sebentar lagi akan tiba.
Umumnya, Gereja Katolik menggunakan warna liturgi merah muda (pink/ rose) pada jubah pastor/ imam, maksudnya untuk menandai bahwa saat hari Minggu itu kita telah berada di pertengahan masa Adven/Prapaskah. Digunakan hanya pada hari Minggu-nya saja (dan bukan pada hari-hari sesudahnya) karena setiap hari Minggu pada dasarnya adalah hari perayaan, di mana kita memperingati hari kebangkitan Kristus. Sedangkan pada hari-hari biasa kita kembali menerungkan masa Pertobatan pada masa Adven dan Prapaskah, sehingga warna yang digunakan adalah tetap ungu.
Aturan tentang penggunaan warna-warna dalam liturgi ada dalam General Instruction of the Roman Missal yang baru, dengan ketentuan sebagai berikut:

“As to the color of sacred vestments, the traditional usage is to be retained: namely,
“a. White is used in the Offices and Masses during the Easter and Christmas seasons; also on celebrations of the Lord other than of his Passion, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, of the Holy Angels, and of Saints who were not Martyrs; on the Solemnities of All Saints (1 November) and of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist (24 June); and on the Feasts of Saint John the Evangelist (27 December), of the Chair of Saint Peter (22 February), and of the Conversion of Saint Paul (25 January).
“b. Red is used on Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion and on Good Friday, on Pentecost Sunday, on celebrations of the Lord’s Passion, on the feasts of the Apostles and Evangelists, and on celebrations of Martyr Saints.
“c. Green is used in the Offices and Masses of Ordinary Time.
“d. Violet or purple is used in Advent and of Lent. It may also be worn in Offices and Masses for the Dead (cf. below).
“e. Besides violet, white or black vestments may be worn at funeral services and at other Offices and Masses for the Dead in the Dioceses of the United States of America.
“f. Rose may be used, where it is the practice, on Gaudete Sunday (Third Sunday of Advent) and on Laetare Sunday (Fourth Sunday of Lent).
“g. On more solemn days, sacred vestments may be used that are festive, that is, more precious, even if not of the color of the day.
“h. Gold or silver colored vestments may be worn on more solemn occasions in the dioceses of the United States of America.”
To this we may add the observation of the instruction “Redemptionis Sacramentum,” Nos. 121 and 127.
[121.] “The purpose of a variety of color of the sacred vestments is to give effective expression even outwardly to the specific character of the mysteries of faith being celebrated and to a sense of Christian life’s passage through the course of the liturgical year.” On the other hand, the variety of offices in the celebration of the Eucharist is shown outwardly by the diversity of sacred vestments. In fact, these “sacred vestments should also contribute to the beauty of the sacred action itself.”
[127.] “A special faculty is given in the liturgical books for using sacred vestments that are festive or more noble on more solemn occasions, even if they are not of the color of the day. However, this faculty, which is specifically intended in reference to vestments made many years ago, with a view to preserving the Church’s patrimony, is improperly extended to innovations by which forms and colors are adopted according to the inclination of private individuals, with disregard for traditional practice, while the real sense of this norm is lost to the detriment of the tradition. On the occasion of a feast day, sacred vestments of a gold or silver color can be substituted as appropriate for others of various colors, but not for purple or black.”
Jadi, warna merah muda memang digunakan hanya pada hari Minggu Laetare Prapaskah dan Minggu Gaudete Adven, tergantung kebiasaan keuskupan setempat. Dan pada hari-hari biasa di masa Adven, warna tetap ungu. Namun jika di paroki tidak ada vestment/ jubah pastor warna merah muda tersebut, yang dipakai adalah tetap warna ungu.
