Pesta Takhta S. Petrus, Rasul 1Ptr 5:1-4; Mzm 23:1-3.4.5.6; Mat 16:13-19

"Pastor bonus - Gembala Baik!"

Inilah salah satu keutamaan dasar yang dikenangkan ketika Gereja merayakan pesta tahta suci kepausan/Santo Petrus. Petrus yang adalah paus pertama kita, "pastor bonus" dan yang identik dengan pemegang "kunci surga" ("Kuasa Untuk Nampakkan Cinta Ilahi") memberikan 3 semangat dasar supaya kita semua juga bisa mempunyai "kunci", "kuasa untuk menampakkan cinta ilahi", antara lain:

1."Servant": Hamba. 
Ia mengajak kita untuk rendah hati menggembalakan karena didorong oleh semangat pengabdian, bukan untuk mendapatkan keuntungan/ketenaran pribadi seperti motto kepausan "servus servorum/hamba segala hamba." 
Adapun 3 ciri pokok seorang "servant", yakni: melayani/service, mendukung/support dan memberdayakan/empowerment.

2."Shepherd": Gembala. 
Ia ajak kita menggembalakan dengan murah hati, yakni sukarela, bukan karena terpaksa/sukar-rela, mempunyai "intentio pura" (tulus) bukan "intentio pura-pura" (penuh akal bulus) sehingga benar-benar menjadi "pastor aeternus/gembala abadi.

Adapun 3 ciri pokok "shepherd", yakni: peduli/caring, berani/courage dan berbelarasa/compassion.

3."Steward": Minister. 
Ia mengajak kita menjadi gembala yang baik hati, yang tidak suka banyak memberi perintah tetapi yang banyak menjadi model dan memberi teladan, yang tidak suka memberi instruksi tapi banyak berkomunikasi.

Adapun 3 ciri pokok "steward" yakni: dapat dipercaya/trustworthy, dapat bertanggungjawab/responsibility, dapat digugat/accountability.

"Mas Wayan mencari pita - Jadilah pelayan dengan penuh sukacita."

1."Caritas Pastoralis" – “Cinta kasih kegembalaan”.

Itulah salah satu "core values" yang saya tulis dalam buku "HERSTORY" (RJK, Kanisius) dan yang juga menjadi dasar iman ketika kita merayakan Pesta Tahta Santo Petrus hari ini, saat Yesus memberikan kuasa pada Petrus yang menjadi "raison d'etre", alasan adanya Gereja (Bhs Porto: "Igreja - persekutuan umat beriman").

Adapun 3 semangat dasar dari "gembala baik", al:

A. GEMbira dalam karya: 
“Engkaulah Petrus” (Mat 16:18). Ia diajak berubah oleh Tuhan. Dari Simon (pendengar) menjadi Petrus (batu karang), penjala ikan menjadi penjala manusia, nelayan menjadi pelayan, hamba menjadi sahabat, dari murid menjadi guru, dari orang yang penakut dan mudah menyangkal Yesus menjadi orang yang berani dan rajin bersaksi tentang Yesus, serta dari karyanya hanya di sekitar danau Galilea berubah menjadi karyanya bagi segala dan seluruh penjuru dunia.

Angelo Roncalli alias Paus Yohanes XXIII juga pernah mengatakan, “Setiap hari adalah panggilan bagi kita untuk berubah, jangan sampai hari-hari kita menjadi menakutkan seakan-akan kita tak dapat berkembang lebih baik lagi.” Dalam bahasa Davis Miles, “Marilah kita belajar memenuhi panggilan Ilahi untuk mencipta, karena “Aku selalu berpikir mengenai mencipta. Masa depanku mulai ketika aku bangun tiap pagi. Tiap hari aku menemukan sesuatu yang baru, yang kreatif dalam hidupku.”

Yang pasti, bukankah perubahan yang baik itu selalu mendatangkan sukacita dan kegembiraan dalam karya? Gaudete - Bersyukurlah!

B. BAjaga dalam doa: 
Ketika Yesus ditangkap, Petrus ketakutan. Saat itulah, Petrus berbuat dosa dengan menyangkal Yesus sebanyak tiga kali. Tapi, syukurnya Petrus berdoa dan bertobat: ia menyesali perbuatannya dengan sepenuh hati. Ia menangisi penyangkalannya sepanjang hidupnya.

Di Israel, ada sebuah gereja dengan nama Gereja Petrus Ayam Berkokok (St.Peter Galicantu) bekas rumah Kayafas. Sebuah permenungan singkat: Yesus bisa jadi sangat sedih karena penyangkalan Petrus, murid kepercayaanNya. Sekarang ini, Yesus yang sama juga sedang menatap kita. Dia berharap bahwa kita pun akan mau belajar seperti Petrus: mau berdoa dan bertobat - mengeluarkan air mata penyesalan atas dosa-dosa kita. Bukankah benar isi sebuah teks yang tertulis pada Scala Santa, “semakin kita berdoa dan bertobat, menangis dan menyesali dosa kita karena menyebabkan kesedihan yang mendalam terhadap Yesus, akan semakin kuat cinta kita akan Yesus.” Scala Sancta sendiri adalah “Tangga Suci”, yang dipercaya sebagai tangga marmer dari bagian luar bekas rumah Pontius Pilatus di Yerusalem, yang dilalui Yesus saat hari penghukumanNya. Scala Santa ini sendiri terdiri 28 buah anak tangga yang ditutupi dengan papan kayu untuk melindunginya. Para peziarah dapat memperoleh indulgensi dengan cara naik tangga ini sambil jalan berlutut.

Yang pasti, kita bersama Gereja diutus seperti domba ke tengah "serigala", simbol carut marut dunia yang "SRakah iRI+GALAk". Bukankah doa membuat segalanya lebih ringan? Bukankah segala sesuatu jika dibuat bersama Allah pasti terasa lebih indah dan lebih mudah, dan itu bisa dibuat dengan doa-doa dan "latihan rohani" bukan? Orate - Berdoalah!

C. LAyani dalam cinta: 
Petrus pergi dari Israel menuju kota Roma. Roma sendiri adalah pusat seluruh Kerajaan Romawi pada waktu itu. Di sanalah, Petrus berkarya: mewartakan Injil sekaligus mempertobatkan banyak orang. Di akhir hidupnya, Petrus meminta juga agar ia bisa menjalani hukuman mati dengan cara disalibkan, tetapi dengan kepalanya berada di bawah, sebab ia merasa tidak layak menderita seperti Yesus. Ia akhirnya wafat sebagai martir di Bukit Vatikan sekitar tahun 67.

Sebuah informasi: pada abad keempat, karena cintanya kepada Gereja, Kaisar Konstantinus membangun sebuah gereja besar di atas tempat sakral tersebut. Dari sikap yang ketiga ini, baiklah juga kalau kita ingat bahwa tidak akan ada cinta yang diterima sebelum kita juga berani belajar memberikan cinta buat orang lain. Maka adalah tindakan yang amat baik, bila kita berani berkarya dalam pelayanan yg penuh cinta kasih: memberi cinta sekaligus per-HATI-an, menunjukkan dan membuktikan cinta dan kehangatan kita terlebih dahulu. Kadang kita juga lupa, semua karya baik kita: kehangatan, cinta kasih dan dukungan, ternyata juga bisa meningkatkan kualitas hidup dan kesehatan kita sendiri.

Yang pasti, sebagai paus pertama dan "ketua" (bidel/pelayan) para rasul, Petrus menasihati kita: "Gembalakanlah kawanan domba Allah yang ada padamu, jangan dengan terpaksa tapi sukarela sesuai kehendak Allah, jangan mau mencari keuntungan tapi dengan pengabdian diri. Itu sebabnya setiap ada paus yang terpilih dalam konklav di Kapel Sistine Roma, selalu ditampil-ulangkan motto kepausan, "Servus servorum - hamba dari segala hamba". Bukankah kita sebagai Gereja menjadi exist karena karya playanan yang murah hati di tengah dunia? Servite - layanilah!

"Cari kemeja dan kardus sepatu buat mas Kelik –
Kita adalah Gereja yang Satu Kudus Katolik dan Apostolik".

2."Founding Father - Bapa Pendiri."

Inilah julukan yang bisa kita berikan pada St Petrus: "Engkau adalah Petrus dan di atas batu karang ini akan Kudirikan GerejaKu." Pastinya, kita bisa belajar beberapa keutamaan dari orang kudus ini, antara lain:

A."Reformatio vitae - Perubahan hidup":

Petrus dulunya adalah Simon. Ia mengalami "perubahan", dari nelayan menjadi pelayan, dari penjala ikan menjadi penjala manusia, dari pecundang menjadi pejuang. Dengan kata lain: Ia mengajak kita untuk lahir baru setiap harinya.

B."Imitatio Christi"- Mengikuti jejak Kristus:

Ia menjadi murid yang bergulat jatuh dan bangun dalam mengikutiNya. Ia seperti Yesus: sama-sama pernah dipenjara dan wafat sebagai martir (Yun: saksi). Petrus wafat pada era Kaisar Nero pada tahun 64 M dengan cara disalib kepala di bawah karena merasa tidak layak menyamai penyaliban Yesus. Jenazahnya dimakamkan di bukit Vatikan yang di kemudian hari, oleh Kaisar Konstantinus dibangun basilika Santo Petrus dengan altar utama persis di atas makamnya.

C."Illuminatio cum Deo - Pencerahan bersama Tuhan:

Petrus mengalami sapaan dan perjumpaan pribadi dengan Yesus. Hal inilah yang menguatkan dan mencerahkan kendati ia harus menghadapi risiko yang besar: Petrus ditangkap dan dipenjarakan dengan terbelenggu serta dijaga ketat oleh para prajurit (Kis 12:4-6). Bisa jadi, satu keyakinan imannya karena dicerahkan Tuhan, yakni: "Cukuplah kasih karuniaKu bagimu sebab justru dalam kelemahanlah kuasaKu menjadi sempurna" (2 Kor 12:9).

"Dari Belarus ke Sukabumi - Santo Petrus doakanlah kami."

3.“Unam sanctam catholicam et apsotolicam Ecclesiam – Gereja yang satu kudus katolik dan apostolik.”

Inilah salah satu ciri Gereja Katolik ketika Yesus bersabda kepada Simon: "Engkau adalah Petrus dan di atas batu karang ini Aku akan mendirikan jemaatKu dan alam maut tidak akan menguasainya!"

Dengan kata-kata ini, Yesus berjanji untuk mendirikan gereja-Nya berlandaskan kebenaran apostolik dari pengakuan Petrus, Paulus dan para rasul lainnya bahwa Yesus adalah Kristus, Anak Allah yang hidup (Mat 16:16; Kis 2:14-26). Yesus sendiri menyebut muridNya itu "Petrus" (Yun: Petros, batu kecil) tapi Ia melanjutkan dengan mengatakan: "di atas batu karang ini (Yun: petra, batu karang besar) Aku akan mendirikan jemaatKu."

Jelas bahwa Yesus sendirilah yang menjadi Batu Karang, landasan utama dan pertama dalam Gereja (1 Kor 3:11). Dalam bahasa St Petrus: “Yesus adalah batu hidup dan terpilih, batu penjuru yang mahal" (1Pet 2:4,6-7). Pada saat yang bersamaan, Petrus-Paulus serta kita semua merupakan batu-batu hidup untuk mendirikan rumah rohani yang dibangun oleh Allah (1Pet 2:5), dimana alam maut yakni iblis dan semua usaha jahatnya tidak akan menguasai gerejaNya (Mat 16:18).

Lebih lanjut, Yesus memberikan “kunci” kepada Petrus, ”Kuasa Untuk Nampakkan Cinta Ilahi” lewat Gereja untuk:

(1) Menegur dosa dan melaksanakan hdp gerejani (Mat 18:15-18)
(2) Berdoa bagi terjadinya kehendak Allah (Mat 18:19-20);
3) Mengikat kuasa setan serta membebaskan orang yg tertawan
(4) Memberitahukan kesalahan dosa+kebenaran Allah (Kis 2:23; 5:3,9)
(5) Memberitakan keselamatan+pengampunan dosa (Yoh 20:23; Kis 2:37-40; Kis 15:7-9).

"Bang Jaja masuk majalah HIDUP - Jadilah Gereja yang benar-benar hidup!"

"Be merciful as your Father is merciful"

Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful. "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For the measure you give will be the measure you get back."

Old Testament Reading: Daniel 9:4-10

I prayed to the LORD my God and made confession, saying, "O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, we have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly and rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and ordinances; we have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. To you, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us confusion of face, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, those that are near and those that are far away, in all the lands to which you have driven them, because of the treachery which they have committed against you. To us, O Lord, belongs confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you. To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness; because we have rebelled against him, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God by following his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.

Meditation

Do you know and experience the mercy God has for you through the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed for you and for your sins upon the cross? The Lord Jesus took our sins upon himself and nailed them to the cross so that we could receive pardon rather than condemnation, freedom rather than slavery to sin, and healing for the wounds caused by sin, injustice, and evil.

God's mercy knows no limits
God the Father never tires of showing his steadfast love and mercy to those who seek him. Scripture tells us that his mercies never cease. "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness" (The Lamentations of Jeremiah 3:22-23). What can hold us back from receiving God's mercy and pardon? Anger, resentment, an unwillingness to forgive or to ask for pardon can hold us back from the healing power and merciful love that has power to wash away guilt and condemnation, fear and anger, pride and resentment. The Lord Jesus offers us freedom to walk in his way of love and forgiveness, mercy and goodness.

Imitate God the Father's mercy

We are called to be merciful towards one another just as our heavenly Father has been merciful towards each one of us. Do you quickly forgive those who wrong you or cause you grief or pain, or do you allow ill-will and resentment to grow in your heart? Do you pray for those who have lost sight of God's mercy, pardon, truth, and justice?

In the Old Testament we see the example of Daniel, a man of great faith in God's mercy and just ways, who prayed daily, not only for himself, but for his own people, and for his persecutors as well. Daniel was 'shamefaced' before God because he recognized that his own people who had been called and chosen by God as the people of Israel, were now suffering in exile due to their sins and unfaithfulness to the covenant God had made with them (see Daniel 9:4-10). Daniel did not sit in judgment over the failings and sins of his own people, instead he pleaded with God for compassion, pardon, and restoration. Our shame will turn to joy and hope if we confess our sins and ask for God's healing love and mercy..

Do not judge 
Why does Jesus tell his followers to "not judge lest they be judged"? Jesus knew the human heart all too well. We judge too quickly or unfairly with mixed motives, impure hearts, and prejudiced minds. The heart must be cleansed first in order to discern right judgment with grace and mercy rather than with ill will and vengeance.

Ephrem the Syrian (306-373 AD), a wise early Christian teacher and writer, comments on Jesus' exhortation to not condemn:
Do not judge, that is, unjustly, so that you may not be judged, with regard to injustice. With the judgment that you judge shall you be judged. This is like the phrase "Forgive, and it will be forgiven you." For once someone has judged in accordance with justice, he should forgive in accordance with grace, so that when he himself is judged in accordance with justice, he may be worthy of forgiveness through grace. Alternatively, it was on account of the judges, those who seek vengeance for themselves, that he said, "Do not condemn." That is, do not seek vengeance for yourselves. Or, do not judge from appearances and opinion and then condemn, but admonish and advise. (Commentary on Tatian's Diatessaron 6.18B)

Grace and mercy 
What makes true disciples of Jesus Christ different from those who do not know the Lord Jesus and what makes Christianity distinct from any other religion? It is grace - treating others not as they deserve, but as God wishes them to be treated - with forbearance, mercy, and loving-kindness. God shows his goodness to the unjust as well as to the just. His love embraces saint and sinner alike. God always seeks what is best for each one of us and he teaches us to seek the greatest good of others, even those who hate and abuse us. Our love for others, even those who are ungrateful and unkind towards us, must be marked by the same kindness and mercy which God has shown to us. It is easier to show kindness and mercy when we can expect to benefit from doing so. How much harder when we can expect nothing in return. Our prayer for those who do us ill both breaks the power of revenge and releases the power of love to do good in the face of evil.

Overcome evil with mercy and goodness
How can we possibly love those who cause us grief, harm, or ill-will? With God all things are possible. He gives power and grace to those who trust in his love and who seek his wisdom and help. The Lord is ready to work in and through us by his Holy Spirit, both to purify our minds and hearts and to help us do what is right, good, and loving in all circumstances. Paul the Apostle reminds us that "God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us" (Romans 5:5) God's love conquers all, even our hurts, injuries, fears, and prejudices. Only the cross of Jesus Christ and his victory over sin can free us from the tyranny of malice, hatred, revenge, and resentment, and give us the courage to overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). Such love and grace has power to heal, restore, and transform us into the image of Christ. Do you know the power of Christ's redeeming love and mercy?

"Lord Jesus, your love brings freedom, pardon, and joy. Transform my heart with your love that nothing may make me lose my temper, ruffle my peace, take away my joy, or make me bitter towards anyone."

"The practice of mercy is twofold: when vengeance is sacrificed and when compassion is shown. The Lord included both of these in his brief sentence: 'Forgive, and you shall be forgiven; give, and it shall be given to you.' This work has the effect of purifying the heart, so that, even under the limitations of this life, we are enabled with pure mind to see the immutable reality of God. There is something holding us back, which has to be loosed so that our sight may break through to the light. In connection with this the Lord said, 'Give alms, and behold, all things are clean to you.' Therefore the next and sixth step is that cleansing of the heart."
