Peringatan Wajib St. Alfonsus Maria de Liguori, Uskup dan Pujangga Gereja

"Lumen Fidei – Terang Iman”.
Inilah salah satu ensiklik dari trilogi HIK kepausan. Ya, inilah ensiklik pertama Paus Fransiskus bertema “IMAN” yang melengkapi dua tema dari ensiklik sebelumnya dari Paus Benediktus XVI, yakni tema “KASIH” dalam “Deus Caritas Est” dan tema “HARAPAN” dalam “Spe Salvi”.
Adapun ensiklik tentang iman yang sejatinya dikeluarkan bertepatan dengan Tahun Iman yang lalu ini mengajak kita untuk semakin beriman dalam kehidupan harian karena iman bukanlah sesuatu yang terpisah dari realitas.
Mengacu pada bacaan injil hari ini, adapun tiga sikap dasar supaya kita semakin memiliki terang iman, al:
1.Berhati-hati:
Tuhan menabur benih “gandum” yang baik di ladang dunia. Sebaliknya, setan juga menabur benih “lalang” yang jahat di ladang dunia kita. Yang pasti, “lalang” ini akan tetap tumbuh bersama dengan “gandum” di tengah hidup harian kita, walaupun keduanya akan berakhir di tempat yang berbeda.
Disinilah, kita diajak berhati-hati dalam berkata dan bertindak sehingga kita senantiasa peka untuk membersihkan lalang dalam ladang hati kita sendiri.
2.Berjuang:
Perhatikan bahwa kedua tanaman ini, “lalang” dan “gandum” tumbuh di tempat yang sama dan kelihatannya cukup sulit untuk dipilah. Di saat gandum mulai berbulir, lalang pun mulai kelihatan juga. Keduanya jelas mempunyai karakteristik berbeda, tapi tumbuhnya berbarengan di tempat yang sama. Bahkan dalam bahasa Inggrisnya gandum dan ilalang ini pun hampir sama namanya: “Wheat” dan “Weeds”.
Jelasnya, kita diajak untuk rajin berjuang menumbuh-suburkan “gandum kebaikan” sekaligus mematikan “lalang keburukan” dalam diri kita. Ya, kita dipanggil untuk menjadi “gandum yang baik”, yang setia mencintai kebenaran, memperjuangkan kebenaran dan mewartakan kebenaran.
3.Berharap:
Tuhan bukan hanya maha baik tapi sekaligus juga maha adil. Ia tidak buta. Ia melihat perjuangan iman kita dan menghargai setiap gulat geliat perjuangan kita.
Perumpamaan ini juga mengajarkan kepada kita kesabaran Allah yang tidak menghakimi sebelum saatnya tiba.
Ya, inilah harapan kita, bahwa ada hidup setelah mati, ada surga setelah dunia: “Pada waktu itu, orang benar akan bercahaya seperti matahari dalam Kerajaan Bapa mereka.” Ya, ketika “waktu menuai” yakni akhir zaman tiba, maka “lalang” dikumpulkan untuk dibakar (masuk ke neraka) sedangkan “gandum” itu dikumpulkan untuk dimasukkan ke lumbung (masuk ke surga).
“Jangan lelah jangan mudah dahaga – Selalu carilah dahulu Kerajaan Surga”.

A.
“Veritas aeterna - Kebenaran sejati."
Inilah salah satu hal yang bisa dimaknai lewat perumpamaan gandum dan lalang pada bacaan hari ini.
Penabur gandum adalah Allah yang datang sebagai Kebenaran Sejati sedangkan penabur lalang adalah Setan yang datang sebagai ketidakbenaran sejati.
Yang menarik, gandum dan lalang ini sejatinya tumbuh di tempat yang sama dan sulit untuk dipilah. Inilah perumpamaan tentang orang baik dan orang jahat yang sejatinya dibiarkan hidup berdampingan, yang mempunyai karakteristik berbeda tapi tumbuh bersama di tempat yang sama (Inggris: Gandum+Lalang=Wheat+Weeds).
Adapun, 3 poin dasarnya, antara lain:
1."Kebaikan/bonum":
Tuhan menabur benih “gandum” yang baik di ladang dunia. Gandum adalah lambang manusia yang berhati baik dan menjadi berkat bagi yang lainnya. Ia melambangkan orang yang mendengar dan melakukan firmanNya.
2."Kejahatan/malum":
Setan menabur benih “lalang” yang jahat di ladang dunia. Lalang adalah lambang orang berhati jahat yang kerap menjadi batu sandungan. Yang pasti, “lalang” ini tumbuh bersama dengan “gandum”, tapi akan berakhir di tempat yang berbeda.
3."Keadilan/iustitium":
Inilah semangat “fairness” Tuhan: “Biarkanlah keduanya tumbuh bersama sampai waktu menuai.” Mereka dibiarkan tumbuh bersama dan ketika “waktu menuai” tiba, maka “lalang” akan dibakar (neraka) tapi “gandum” akan dimasukkan ke lumbung (surga). Jelas terlihat bahwa di surga itu tidak sama dengan di bumi: Kalau di bumi, ada orang baik dan jahat, maka di surga yang ada hanyalah orang baik. Orang baik mendapat ganjaran di surga, orang jahat mendapat hukuman di neraka: "Mereka harus memberi pertanggungan jawab kepada Dia, yang telah siap sedia menghakimi orang hidup dan mati." Bagaimana dengan kita?

Semoga kami mengikuti jejak Santo Alfonsus Maria dan giat mengusahakan keselamatan sesama, supaya kami pantas memperoleh ganjaran di surga. Dengan pengantaraan Yesus Kristus, Putra-Mu, yang bersama Dikau dalam persatuan Roh Kudus, hidup dan berkuasa, Allah, sepanjang segala masa. Amin.

Tuhan hadir di mana-mana. Namun, Tuhan juga punya rumah kediaman-Nya di mana umat Allah dapat bertemu secara istimewa dan menimba segala harta surgawi yang berasal dari pada-Nya.

"Tuhan bersabda kepada Musa dengan berhadapan muka."
Waktu Israel ada di padang gurun Musa mengambil sebuah kemah dan membentangkannya jauh di luar perkemahan. Kemah itu diberi nama Kemah Pertemuan. Setiap orang yang mencari Tuhan, pergi ke Kemah Pertemuan itu di luar perkemahan. Apabila Musa pergi ke kemah itu, bangunlah seluruh bangsa dan berdirilah mereka, masing-masing di pintu kemahnya, dan mereka mengikuti Musa dengan matanya, sampai ia masuk ke dalam kemah itu. Apabila Musa masuk ke dalam kemah itu, maka turunlah tiang awan dan berhenti di pintu kemah lalu berbicaralah Tuhan dengan Musa di sana. Setelah seluruh bangsa melihat, bahwa tiang awan berhenti di pintu kemah, maka mereka bangun dan sujud menyembah, masing-masing di pintu kemahnya. Dan Tuhan berbicara dengan Musa dengan berhadapan muka seperti orang yang berbicara dengan temannya. Kemudian kembalilah Musa ke perkemahan. Tetapi Yosua bin Nun, hambanya, orang yang masih muda, tidaklah meninggalkan kemah itu. Pada suatu hari, pagi-pagi benar, Musa naik ke Gunung Sinai. Ia menyerukan nama Tuhan. Tuhan lewat di depan Musa sambil berseru, “Tuhan adalah Allah yang penyayang dan pengasih, panjang sabar dan berlimpah kasih setia-Nya; rahmat dan kesetiaan-Nya berlimpah-limpah. Ia meneguhkan kasih setia-Nya kepada beribu-ribu orang, Ia mengampuni kesalahan, pelanggaran dan dosa. Tetapi orang yang bersalah tidak sekali-kali Ia bebaskan dari hukuman. Dan kesalahan bapa akan dibalaskan-Nya kepada anak-anak dan cucunya, sampai keturunan yang ketiga dan keempat.” Segeralah Musa berlutut ke tanah, lalu sujud menyembah, serta berkata, “Jikalau aku mendapat kasih karunia di hadapan-Mu, ya Tuhan, berjalanlah kiranya Tuhan di tengah-tengah kami. 1. Tuhan menjalankan keadilan dan hukum bagi semua orang yang diperas. Ia telah memperkenalkan jalan-jalan-Nya kepada Musa, dan memaklumkan perbuatan-perbuatan-Nya kepada orang Israel.
2. Tuhan adalah pengasih dan penyayang, panjang sabar dan berlimpah kasih setia. Tidak terus menerus Ia murka, dan tidak untuk selamanya Ia mendendam.
3. Tidak pernah Ia memperlakukan kita setimpal dengan dosa kita, atau membalas kita setimpal dengan kesalahan kita. Setinggi langit dari bumi, demikianlah besarnya kasih setia Tuhan, atas orang-orang yang takut akan Dia!

Ayat. Benih melambangkan sabda Allah, penaburnya ialah Kristus. Semua orang yang menemukan Kristus, akan hidup selama-lamanya.
Sabda Allah membutuhkan hati yang subur dan baik agar sabda itu tumbuh dan berbuah kasih dan kuasa dari Allah. Banyak pihak yang akan mengambil benih sabda yang baik itu, maka kita perlu waspada dan minta berkat dari Tuhan.
Inilah Injil Yesus Kristus menurut Matius (13:36-43)
"Seperti lalang itu dikumpulkan dan dibakar dalam api, demikian juga pada akhir zaman."
Pada suatu hari Yesus meninggalkan orang banyak, lalu pulang. Para murid kemudian datang dan berkata kepada-Nya, “Jelaskanlah kepada kami arti perumpamaan tentang lalang di ladang itu.” Yesus menjawab, “Orang yang menaburkan benih baik ialah Anak Manusia. Ladang itu ialah dunia. Benih yang baik adalah anak-anak Kerajaan dan lalang adalah anak-anak si jahat. Musuh yang menaburkan benih lalang ialah Iblis. Waktu menuai ialah akhir zaman, dan para penuai itu malaikat. Maka seperti lalang itu dikumpulkan dan dibakar dalam api, demikian juga pada akhir zaman. Anak Manusia akan mengutus malaikat-malaikat-Nya dan mereka akan mengumpulkan segala sesuatu yang menyesatkan dan semua orang yang melakukan kejahatan dari dalam kerajaan-Nya. Semuanya akan dicampakkan ke dalam dapur api. Di sanalah akan terdapat ratapan dan kertak gigi. Pada waktu itulah orang benar akan bercahaya seperti matahari dalam Kerajaan Bapa mereka. Doa Malam
Tuhan, Engkau adalah pemilik kehidupan. Ampunilah segala kelemahan manusiawiku dan sempurnakanlah agar aku layak di hadapan-Mu. Jauhkanlah aku dari segala ratapan dan kertak gigi sehingga kelak aku dapat senantiasa hidup bersama-Mu. Amin.

Santo Alfonsus Maria de Liguori
ALFONSUS MARIA DE LIGUORI lahir di Marianella, Napoli, Italia, pada 27 September 1696. Ia adalah seorang yang jenius. Bayangkan, dalam usia 16 tahun ia telah meraih gelar Doktor Hukum di Universitas Napoli. Setelah 3 tahun menjadi imam, pada 9 November 1732 ia mendirikan Tarekat "Sanctissimi Redemptoris".
Pada usia 66 tahun ia diangkat menjadi Uskup Agata dan meninggal pada 1 Agustus 1787. Dibeatifikasi di Roma pada 15 September 1816 oleh Paus Pius VII dan dinyatakan sebagai Santo oleh Paus Gregorius XVI pada 26 Mei 1839.

DOA KEPADA SAKRAMEN MAHAKUDUS
St. Alfonsus Maria de Liguori
Tuhanku Yesus Kristus, kasih-Mu yang dahsyat kepada umat manusialah yang menahan-Mu siang malam dalam Sakramen ini, penuh belas kasihan dan cinta, menanti, mengundang, dan menyambut semua yang datang mengunjungi-Mu.
Aku percaya bahwa Engkau sungguh hadir dalam Sakramen dari altar. Dari kedalaman ketiadaanku, aku memuja-Mu; dan aku bersyukur kepada-Mu atas begitu banyak rahmat yang telah Kau anugerahkan kepadaku, teristimewa anugerah Diri-Mu sendiri dalam Sakramen ini, anugerah Bunda-Mu yang Tersuci sebagai perantaraku, dan anugerah hak istimewa mengunjungi-Mu dalam Gereja ini.
Sekarang aku berbicara kepada Hati-Mu yang Maharahim dengan tiga intensi: untuk mengucap syukur kepada-Mu atas anugerah agung Diri-Mu sendiri; untuk menyilih segala penghinaan yang ditimpakan para musuh ke atas-Mu dalam Sakramen ini; dan untuk menyembah-Mu di manapun kehadiran Ekaristi-Mu dicemarkan atau diabaikan.

Prolog
Saya mempunyai seorang sahabat muda dari tanah Jawa, yang kini bekerja di Thailand. Ia tinggal dekat MBK Centre, setiap hari ia menjadi seorang supir tuk tuk, kendaraan khas di kota Bangkok, sejenis bajaj. Namanya Poniman; bisa berarti Pokoknya Ingin Beriman.
Di sinilah, saya mengangkat seorang beriman
bernama Alfonsus Maria de Liguori. Ia adalah seorang uskup, doktor Gereja, dan juga sekaligus pendiri Kongregasi Redemptorist. (CSsR; Redemptoris artinya Sang Penebus). Dengan segala usaha karya dan pelbagai bukunya, dia sungguh ingin menampilkan dan sekaligus mewartakan iman: pokoknya ingin beriman. Dia juga berani meninggalkan karirnya sebagai pengacara demi Tuhannya. Inilah juga yang menjadi harapan Gereja bahwa setiap orang juga mempunyai keinginan untuk “pokoknya semakin ingin beriman”, bukan?
A.
Sebuah Sketsa Profil
“Glorificate et portate Deum in corpora vestro
Muliakanlah Tuhan serta bawalah Dia di dalam tubuhmu ...”
Alfonsus Liguori (27 September 1696 – 1 Agustus 1787) terlahir dengan nama Alphonsus Marie Antony John Cosmos Damien Michael Gaspard de Liguori pada tanggal 27 September 1696 di Marianella, dekat Naples, Italia.
Keluarga Alfonsus adalah keluarga bangsawan Katolik yang saleh. Ayahnya, Don Joseph de Ligouri, seorang laksamana militer Kerajaan Napoli dan ibunya, Donna Anna Cavalieri, mendidik Alfonsus dengan disiplin yang tinggi terutama dalam hal iman dan cara hidup Katolik. Alfonsus sendiri sebagai anak sulung dari tujuh bersaudara, sering pergi retret bersama ayahnya.
Orang tuanya juga mendidiknya ala militer. Dengan disiplin yang tinggi, seminggu sekali ia diwajibkan tidur di lantai tanpa alas. Hal ini membuatnya tidak manja dan terbiasa dengan pola hidup yang teratur. Dengan bakat dan
kemampuan yang luar biasa, Alfonsus belajar hukum pada usia tiga belas tahun dan memperoleh gelar doktor hukum dengan predikat magna cum laude, pada usia 16 tahun.
Pada awalnya, ia berpraktik menjadi pengacara yang cemerlang. Semua kasus yang ditanganinya pasti dimenangkannya. Sampai suatu ketika, akhirnya ia kalah dalam sebuah kasus. Ketika itulah, Alfonsus mengurung diri selama tiga hari di kamar, merenungkan kekalahannya. Kekalahan ini membuat batinnya tertekan. Akan tetapi, ternyata kekalahan ini malahan membuatnya lebih dekat dengan Tuhan.
Suatu ketika, saat mengunjungi orang sakit di rumah sakit, Alfonsus dua kali mendengar suara ajaib yang berkata, ”Tinggalkanlah dunia dan serahkanlah dirimu kepada-Ku.”
Lama-kelamaan, ia sadar bahwa itu adalah suara Tuhan. Pada akhirnya dengan kesadaran ini, ia memutuskan untuk menjadi seorang imam yang sepenuhnya mempersembahkan hidup bagi Tuhan. Lalu Alfonsus pergi ke Gereja Maria Bunda Penebus, berdoa di depan tabernakel dan semakin mantap untuk menjadi seorang imam.
Setelah belajar teologi, Alfonsus akhirnya ditahbiskan sebagai imam pada tanggal 21 Desember 1726, dan berkarya di seluruh daerah Napoli.
Awal abad ke-18 merupakan masa kesombongan dalam berkhotbah di mana
banyak khotbah yang bertele-tele (buah dari masa Renaissance). Abad itu juga merupakan masa di mana banyak terjadi penyimpangan dalam pengakuan dosa (buah dari Jansenisme).
Dengan keprihatinannya terhadap imbas Renaissance dan Jansenisme, sebagai seorang imam muda, ia terus berkhotbah di seluruh Kerajaan Napoli, terutama di desa-desa dan daerah-daerah kumuh. Karyanya lumayan berhasil: banyak orang kembali mengaku dosa, banyak pendosa berat kembali kepada Sakramen Ekaristi yang menyembuhkan, banyak musuh-musuh berdamai, dan konflik keluarga juga bisa didamaikan.
Akan tetapi, Alfonsus merasa belum maksimal dan masih sangat prihatin dengan keadaan Gereja waktu itu.
Kebetulan, pada tahun 1729 ia menjadi imam kapelan di sebuah kolese yang khusus mendidik para calon imam yang akan dikirim ke China. Disanalah, ia berkenalan dengan Mgr. Thomas Falcoia, seorang pribadi yang memberi inspirasi dan dorongan kepadanya untuk mendirikan sebuah institut yang baru. Kepadanya, Mgr. Falcoia menceritakan tentang kelompok para suster binaannya di Scala yang menghayati cara hidup yang keras dalam doa dan mati raga.
Terdorong oleh inspirasi dan semangat yang diberikan oleh Mgr. Falcoia, ia kemudian mendirikan sebuah tarekat religius baru di Scala pada tanggal 9 Nopember 1732 dengan nama Sanctissimi Redemptoris (Sang Penebus, Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer/Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris, C.Ss.R atau CSSR).
Tarekat religius ini mengabdikan diri dalam bidang pewartaan Injil kepada orang-orang pedesaan. Tanpa kenal lelah, mereka berkhotbah di alun alun, mendengarkan pengakuan dosa dan memberikan bimbingan khusus kepada orang muda, keluarga dan anak-anak.
Sejak Mgr. Falcoia meninggal pada tahun 1743, Alfonsus memimpin kongregasi barunya ini. Dengan berbagai permasalahan internal ataupun eksternal, Alfonsus berusaha untuk
mendapat pengakuan raja, dan menjalankan tugas-tugas di seluruh Napoli dan Sicilia.
Setelah tahun 1752, ia mendedikasikan lebih banyak waktunya untuk menulis buku. Ia juga menulis lagu puji-pujian, bermain organ dan
melukis. St. Alfonsus menulis enam puluh buah buku, di antaranya buku buku bertema moral kristiani.
Pada Juni 1767, Alfonsus diserang penyakit radang sendi yang tak dapat disembuhkan dan menjadikannya lumpuh. Ia kehilangan pendengarannya serta nyaris buta. Ia juga harus mengalami berbagai kekecewaan dan pencobaan dari orang-orang dekatnya sendiri. Namun, Alfonsus memiliki devosi yang amat mendalam kepada Sakramen Mahakudus dan Santa Perawan Maria, seperti yang dapat kita ketahui melalui bukunya yang terkenal yang berjudul Kemuliaan Maria. Dia juga yang mulai mengenalkan “Tujuh Duka Santa Perawan Maria.”
Akhirnya Alfonsus meninggal dunia di Pagani, dekat Napoli, Italia pada tahun 1787 dalam usia 91 tahun. Alfonsus dibeatifikasi pada tahun 1816, dan dikanonisasi pada tahun 1839, serta dinyatakan sebagai Pujangga Gereja pada tahun 1871.

Saya mengenal seorang ibu, berusia 70an tahun di daerah Utara Jakarta. Namanya, Bu Muaral. Dia bersama beberapa relawan memimpin sekaligus mengurus kegiatan harian sebuah sekolah (semacam Taman Kanak-kanak), bagi anak-anak nelayan yang tidak mampu bersekolah karena terbentur masalah dana. Nama sekolahnya kerap disebut “Lumba-lumba”. Mungkin seperti ikan lumba-lumba yang kehadirannya menolong para awak kapal
atau nelayan yeng terjebak di laut, sekolah ini juga dihadirkan untuk menolong orang-orang yang kurang mampu di sekitarnya.
“Bu Muaral” sendiri bagi saya bisa berarti Budayakan Muatan Moral. Lewat kehadiran dan teladan karya Alfonsus Maria de Liguori, jelaslah bahwa ia juga ingin membudayakan muatan moral. Dengan kata lain, moral itu tidak terlepas dari hidup kita sehari-hari, juga tentunya dari hidup iman kristiani kita, bukan?
Sebuah kisah, pada tahun 1762, di usia 66 tahun, Alfonsus dipilih menjadi Uskup Agata dei Goti oleh Paus Klemens XIII. Agata merupakan
keuskupan kecil, dengan jumlah 30.000 jiwa, dengan 17 rumah biara dan 400 pastor. Di keuskupannya ini, terdapat banyak keluhan terhadap moralitas para imam yang merayakan misa sedemikian terburu-buru sehingga merusak makna ekaristi.
Sebagai uskup, Alfonsus berusaha membarui moralitas dan cara hidup para imamnya di keuskupan tersebut. Di sinilah, Alfonsus pernah
menulis sebuah risalah: Pastor di altar, kata Santo Siprianus, “mewakili Yesus Kristus”. Akan tetapi, siapa yang diwakili para pastor saat ini? Mereka hanya mewakili mata pencaharian mereka untuk memperoleh uang.
Di keuskupan inilah, ia mulai membenahi moralitas para imamnya. Ia juga mulai menganjurkan dua hal bagi para imamnya: kesederhanaan dalam berkhotbah serta kemurahan hati dalam pengakuan dosa. Dia juga mengajar dengan menulis banyak buku bertema moral.
Edisi pertama Teologi Moral Alfonsus sendiri diterbitkan di Napoli pada tahun 1748. Edisi kedua, yang merupakan karyanya yang jelas dan lengkap diterbitkan pada tahun 1753-1755.
Tujuh edisi berikutnya adalah autobiografi kehidupannya. Tulisan-tulisannya ini sangat membantu para imam dalam bidang pelayanan sakramen tobat. Ia juga tetap menganjurkan dua hal pokok bagi para imamnya: kesederhanaan dalam berkhotbah serta kemurahan hati dalam pengakuan dosa. Oleh
sebab itulah, sekarang Alfonsus diangkat sebagai pelindung para konfesor (imam yang memberikan sakramen tobat) dan para moralis karena sikapnya yang begitu menghargai sakramen tobat dan tulisan-tulisan moralnya yang begitu mendalam.
Seorang imam dari Keuskupan Napoli, Pastor Mazzini mengatakan, “Jika saya Paus, saya akan mengkanonisasinya tanpa proses.” “Ia
dipenuhi dengan jalan yang sempurna, persepsi moralnya yang ilahi tentang cinta Tuhan di atas segala-galanya, dengan seluruh hati dan dengan segenap kekuatan sepertinya semua sudah dilihat dan seperti yang saya lihat, cinta kasih Tuhan memancar dalam setiap tindakan dan perkataan, dalam cara berbicara yang sangat berdevosi kepada Tuhan dan Bunda Maria, kontemplasinya yang mendalam, penghormatannya terhadap Sakramen Mahakudus dan akan kehadiran ilahi.”

Bersukacitalah dalam pengharapan, bersabarlah dalam kesesakan,
dan bertekunlah dalam doa.”
“Bersama Tuhan, penebusan berlimpah.” Itulah kalimat singkat-padat yang pernah dikatakannya kepada para pengikutnya di CSsR.
Jelaslah, bahwa pelbagai keutamaan dan ciri khas kebajikannya merupakan tujuan iman yang murni. Pada setiap hal dalam seluruh waktu, ia bertindak untuk, dalam dan yang pasti bersama
nama Tuhan. Bukankah merupakan hal yang benar jika segala sesuatu itu dikerjakan bersama Tuhan, maka segala sesuatu itu – seberapa pun beratnya, akan terasa lebih indah dan lebih mudah? Alfonsus Maria de Liguori telah memberikan contohnya. Bagaimana dengan kita sendiri?

Berbelanja (shopping) agaknya telah menjadi ciri kebanyakan manusia yang hidup di zaman kontemporer dewasa ini –hingga ahirnya menciptakan konsumerisme dan materialisme padahal hari ini Yesus memperingatkan: “Berjaga-jagalah dan waspadalah terhadap segala ketamakan (“pleonexia”), sebab walaupun seorang berlimpah-limpah hartanya, hidupnya tidaklah tergantung dari kekayaannya itu.”
Banyak dari kita ingin berjuang untuk menjadi kaya, entah kaya secara finansial, intelektual ataupun sosial. Bagi saya sendiri, Yesus mengajak kita menjadi kaya bukan melulu kaya di hadapan dunia, tapi terlebih kaya di hadapan Allah.
Bersama dengan St Ignatius Loyola yang kita kenangkan hari ini, adapun kaya di hadapan Allah itu memiliki dua syarat, yakni: "KAsihi Tuhan dan YAkini iman."
Menjadi sebuah kecenderungan umum bahwa semua orang kaya diidentikkan dengan memiliki harta benda, tapi hari ini “harta benda” itu memilik arti imani, al:
1. HARapan:
Ciri orang “kaya” adalah hidupnya punyai harapan karena yakin bahwa Allah selalu menjadi “Immanuel”: menyertai kita di tengah ruwet renteng pergulat-geliatan dunia ini. Kita diajak untuk terus berharap, jangan melulu berputus asa dan bermurung durja jika melihat diri lemah, tetapi sebaliknya kita justru berbangga dan tetap bersukacita karena pastilah Allah yang akan terus berkarya
2. cinTA:
Bisa saja kita memberi tanpa mencintai, tapi mustahil mencintai tanpa memberi bukan? Orang yang benar benar “kaya” biasanya mudah untuk berbagi cinta kasih. Di tengah dunia yang berpola “UUD – Ujung Ujungnya Duit”, Yesus mengajak kita untuk mau berbagi, karena semua ini adalah rahmatNya (gratia, grace: gratis), yang akan semakin bertambah jika kita bagikan dengan tulus kepada sesama.
Yakinlah bahwa tak seorang pun sia-sia di dunia ini, ketika ia meringankan beban kehidupan bagi orang lain. Bukankah sebuah lilin tak kehilangan apa pun dengan menyalakan lilin lain? Dengan memberi, bukan dengan menerima, kita bisa menjadi kaya! Sebaliknya, sikap yang terpusat pada diri sendiri dan tak butuh berbuat apa-apa lagi kecuali memiliki, memiliki dan terus memiliki. Entah harta, entah pangkat, entah keahlian, malahan akan membuat kita tak berarti apa-apa.
3. keBENaran:
Salah satu universitas teratas sedunia adalah Harvard yang berlogo “Veritas”. Artinya adalah “Kebenaran”. Veritas ini secara utuh bisa ditemukan dalam diri Yesus (Yoh 14:6).
Dkl: orang yang “kaya” pasti memiliki veritas yang didapat dengan hidup beriman yang mendalam. Dalam kacamata iman kristiani, kita diajak untuk tidak menggantungkan diri pada harta duniawi, tetapi menggunakan harta duniawi sebagai sarana persembahan kepada Tuhan sang kebenaran. Dalam mata iman lebih lanjut, harta ialah berkat ilahi yang mesti dikembangkan seperti talenta dan tidak dipendam sendirian.
4. keDAmaian:
Orang yang benar benar “kaya” mudah memiliki kedamaian, karena hidupnya penuh dengan rasa yang positif dan hidup yang afektif. Ia menyadari bahwa hidup hanyalah sementara dan ia menggunakan waktunya sebaik mungkin dengan kata dan sikap yang penuh kedamaian karena baginya, masalahnya bukan apakah kita akan mati, tetapi bagaimana cara kita hidup. Kedamaian membantu kita menemukan yang tak bakal bisa lenyap: harta di hadapan Allah karena harta benda dunia tak membuat seseorang otomatis menjadi kaya raya, bisa jadi itu hanya membuatnya lebih sibuk. Orang miskin kekurangan banyak tapi orang tamak kekurangan segalanya bukan?

As far as possible give no foothold to sloth, the source of
all evils.

As one who strives to cast out an evil thought gains a great
reward in heaven, so he who does not consent to good
inspirations runs a grave risk of falling into great evils.

infinite liberality and bounty overflows the fullness and
